Mike Simons

I am a Tulsa, Oklahoma based photojournalist and licensed drone pilot. I have worked at the Tulsa World for over 20 years now! I started in 1995, and made the mistake of leaving in 2000. But, I came back in 2005 and still work there. I love it, but I also love freelancing.

I am married to Brandi, a photographer and photography teacher at Tulsa Tech. We met as staff photographers at the Tulsa World. We have two daughters Sonnie,18, and Sarah,16. 

I moved to Tulsa when I was 15 and graduated from Union High School. I worked on the school newspaper and yearbook and that’s where I discovered, and fell in love with news photography. 

I graduated from UCO with a degree in Journalism/Photographic Arts.

People usually write their bios in 3rd person, I really don’t like doing that, so I don’t. If a kid asks to play with my camera, the answer is always yes!
